Windy Joe

February 13th 2022

Description

This is a relatively easy out & back day trip suitable for beginners or those keen to explore winter travel opportunities using a variety of travel modes.
Hiking, (bring micro-spikes or similar) OR Snowshoeing, OR Ski-touring
Windy Joe is a relatively easy 5.5  hour (return) hike near the Manning Park Lodge.
I have checked with folks who have done the hike recently and the trail is in pretty good shape with a few dead falls to be negotiated but can be done with snow shoes,  micro spikes or skiis.
If the weather in the area continues as presently predicted there should be relatively little new / fresh snow on the ground to make our travel time much different from anticipated.
Besides warm clothes (layers) bring snacks, lunch, and drinks along with micro-spikes snowshoes or touring skis.

I would like to start the hike about 9:30 am at the trail head.
In general for me that means leaving Vancouver (Chevron Station Dominion Street  &  Boundary Road about 6 am.)
It is about a 3 hour drive to Manning Park Lodge from there.
We could meet between 9:00 – 9:30 at the Lodge & convoy the short distance to parking area.
Let me know if your interested and we will attempt to arrange carpooling.
