Sunshine Coast Trail – June 23 – July 3

June 23rd 2022

Sunshine Coast

Description

The Sunshine Coast Trail is a 180 km hut-to-hut thru-hike located near Powell River, BC. The trail traverses a wide variety of landscapes, from coastal shorelines, along creeks and lakes, through old growth forests to panoramic mountaintops.  We will hike the trail from North to South, beginning at Sarah Point and ending at Saltery Bay. Daily hiking will be at a moderate pace with distances ranging from 15-35 km, and daily elevation ranges of 300m to 900m.  We will try to arrange two food drops, one in Powell River and another at Lang Bay.

Transportation: I’m able to drive to Powell River, then we will shuttle to the trailhead.

Accommodation: Most nights will be spent sleeping in the huts. However it is recommended you bring a tent in case the hut is full or we pull up short. We will also spend one night in a hotel in Powell River partway through our thru-hike

Costs: Approx $200-250. Costs may be somewhat reduced if we are a full group of 4.

Planning: I would like to organize a planning session or two before our hike to get to know each other and finalize some trip details.

Please contact me before registering if you have any questions about the trail or the itinerary.
