Description
Mount Bishop is located north of Mt Seymour, and the trailhead close to the Seymour dam is easiest accessed by bike. We’ll meet at 7:30 am by the Rice Lake Gate washrooms (https://goo.gl/maps/vyEMaiUmjzE3NAwN6), ready to bike to the trailhead.
The biking portion is around 12km (one way) with a couple of hundred meters of elevation gain. It is mostly pavement with a short section of gravel at the end. If the group prefers, there is also a way to access the trail via Fisherman trail and Spur 4, which is all gravel.
The hike is about 8km return with approximately 1300m of elevation gain/loss. It is a rough and steep trail, so be prepared for some type 2 fun. If time permits, we can also consider bagging some neighbouring peaks like Deacon and Presbyter.
There is no technical section on the trail, so no helmet (except a bike helmet) or other protective gear is required. The trail can get quite muddy, I am not sure what the current conditions are. Please ensure your bike is in decent shape so we don’t lose much time biking to the trailhead. I’d also recommend bringing a bike lock.
