Join us for our Annual General Meeting and Monthly Social on Tuesday, February 24, at the Floral Hall at VanDusen Botanical Garden (37th Avenue at Oak Street).

Please come and bring a friend! Members and non-members are welcome! (REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED AND WILL BE CHECKED UPON ARRIVAL. PLEASE LET THE EVENT COORDINATOR KNOW IF ANY ISSUES WITH REGISTERING)

Annual Reports from the Executive and election: Come find out what the executive has been doing this year on behalf of members. There will be a summary of events and activities, plus the annual financial report. Lets support the hard working volunteers who have put their names forward for our executive team to serve our section membership. There will be No Election portion of the AGM One of the 5 Member at large applicants has withdrawn to step up to become Secretary thus leaving 4 applicants for 4 MAL positions. Those people will be acclaimed.

The doors open at 6pm for socializing and the meeting starts at 7pm

Treats/cookies and Beverages: Enjoy some treats and your choice of beverage (tea/ soda/juice) while socializing and listening to the presentation.

Guest Presentation:

You will be treated to a presentation from local ACMG Apprentice Alpine Guide, BRENT NIXON.
Brent will discuss new routing in BC. From the longest bolted climb in North America, Guaranteed Rugged 33 pitches, to winter ice and mixed climbs on the coast. Brent takes us on a journey around southwest BC, exploring the four seasons of first ascents. Within the presentation he will talk about the new routers responsibility and ethics to future climbers and generations.
Brent is currently, an ACMG Apprentice Alpine Guide, and Owner/Operator of VMG Vancouver Mountain Guides here in the city. He has been climbing for 37 years with much of that time spent exploring unclimbed rock and ice. He has first ascents across climbing disciplines including bouldering, sport,  alpine, ice, and mixed.

Door Prizes: There will be several door prizes – winners picked via raffle tickets. Prizes include:  Intuition boot liners + custom fit, Fjallraven shopping vouchers and merchandise, National club swag, BlackSheep Adventures swag as well as gear from our Vancouver ClimbOn store who will have a table displaying gear!

Volunteer Draw Prizes: As a small way to say “thanks”, we’ll be giving away draw prizes to this year’s wonderful volunteers. This includes trip organizers, course instructors, mentors, and slideshow presenters. NOTE: Volunteers must be present at the meeting to receive a prize, so please attend in person.

We will also have a free book exchange table! There will be older guidebooks, mountaineering books, and magazines available for members to take. This is also an opportunity to share your own books, etc with other members.
