Haberl Hut Section Climbing Trip (Independent and Guided Instructional Options)

July 9th 2026

Description

This is a multi-day, heli-supported, gourmet-food, hut-based, backcountry climbing event.

You can opt for Self-Guided or participate in a Guided Instructional session. Details below and you need to answer in the trip questions your preference.

Self Guided:

  • Self-guided with decisions and responsibility shared equally among all participants.
  • It is the responsibility of each party member to have an understanding of the nature and degree of challenge of the terrain, to be self-sufficient and capable of route finding and travel as well as crevasse rescue and first aid.
  • Parties venturing out on the slopes must consist of at least 3 people properly equipped, prepared for the terrain & weather conditions, and leave a detailed trip plan in the hut before leaving. As much as we value independence, this is a group trip and we’re all in this together. Decision-making impacts the whole group.

Guided Instructional:

  • An awesome opportunity to participate in either an Introduction to Mountaineering course or Intermediate Mountaineering Course. Please answer your preference in the trip questions
  • Instructions provided by professional ACMG guides from BlackSheep Adventure

Accommodation

  • 4 nights* at the picturesque Jim Haberl Hut with up to 5 days* climbing in the vicinity of Jim Haberl Hut.  *dependent upon weather conditions.
  • Hut fees are totally non-refundable (even if the trip gets cancelled due to flight or weather conditions).
  • However for group members who wish, club booking consideration in terms of a rescheduled trip is possible depending upon Hut availability, flying and weather conditions

Costs:
Costs based on best-estimate of the overall costs. Unforeseen changes to quotes given (particularly from the helicopter company – such as fuel cost increases or unavailability of a larger chopper) could affect the overall price and require an additional payment or a potential refund after. Approximate prices include tax.

  • Self-guided: $1,400 per person
  • Guided Instructional: $2,500 per person

Minor extra food costs may apply for those requiring significant food restrictions.

Travel to Squamish, BC as well as accommodations in Squamish are not included.

To secure your spot on the trip a non-refundable deposit will be required. Timing will be communicated quickly. Those on the Wait list invited to participate, must e-transfer $500 payment before being promoted to Trip Participant (you will be notified of admission by email). Excess of payments over trip costs will be refunded after all trip bills are paid.

Food, Cooking, and Meals

We will be getting this trip fully catered by Peak Provisions in Squamish. Gourmet breakfasts, lunches, apres snacks, and dinners. The group will be responsible for cooking and preparing the meals. Dietary restrictions will need to be indicated at time of booking. Each person will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to cooking, cleaning, sweeping and tidying, fetching water, etc.

Flights In & out

*Weather Plan

If we are unable to fly into the hut on the designated day, we will seek suitable activity in the Squamish area. The Guided Instructional group(s) will still get training. Overnighting will most likely happen at home and we’ll try to fly again the next day, pending discussion with Black Tusk
