Description
This is a guided trek with a company called Nepal Trekking Experts. “nepaltrekkingexperts.com”
Irina and I used them to complete the Manaslu Trek in 2024 and had a fantastic experience. They were very thorough, responsive, and flexible throughout the trip.
The suggested itinerary goes to Everest Base Camp, then over Cho La and Renjo Pass, including Gokyo Lake. The highest altitude point is approximately 5600 m, which is one of the optional peaks done on an acclimatization day.
This is a trekking objective rather than a technical mountaineering trip. However we may be using crampons, or ice axes in one section( see itinerary).
Participants do need to have good fitness and be comfortable hiking 9–20 km per day for approximately two weeks at altitude and in remote terrain (please see attached itinerary).
Participants should also have a solid understanding of layering systems, hydration, nutrition, and personal self-care in mountain environments. Being a strong and supportive team player is important for this trip.
Please keep in mind that the cost of the trek is in USD. What is included in the trek, and what is not included, is listed in the attached itinerary.
The flight from Vancouver to Kathmandu is a separate cost from the itinerary.
The trek would start November 15, 2026. We should plan to arrive in Kathmandu two days prior (November 13, 2026), as outlined in the itinerary. A minimum of approximately 21 days, from the time you land, should be planned in case flights to Lukla are delayed or cancelled due to weather.
Participants should be prepared with altitude sickness medication and visit a travel clinic regarding recommended vaccinations and other travel considerations.
If there is sufficient interest, an initial information session will be organized via Zoom at the end of summer, and a WhatsApp group chat will be created for ongoing discussions and logistics.

The trail leads away from Namche Bazaar through a series of small villages and a suspension bridge en route to Phunki Tenga and then climbs through a series of switchbacks and dense rhododendron forests to Tengboche. - Altitude:4940m/16207ft.
- Meals:Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
- Accommodation:Tea house
With plenty of rest from the previous day, our bodies are fully prepared for the next stretch towards Thugla, where we pass numerous cairns and monuments dedicated to the many Sherpas and climbers who have perished on Everest’s slopes. Further along on the trail through the barren terrain, we come to the Khumbu glacier at the foot of the famous mountain and marvel at the terrible beauty and chaos of the inexorable mass of ice. The day finishes with our arrival at the jumble of buildings that make up the remote outpost of Lobuche.
Day10Lobuche to Gorak Shep 4hrs/ 4.6 Km, Hike to Everest Base Camp (5364m/17598ft) and back to Gorak Shep for overnight.
- Altitude:5140m/16864ft.
- Meals:Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
- Accommodation:Tea house
Our trek reaches its climax today with the much-anticipated arrival at Everest Base Camp, truly one of the most memorable experiences in Nepal. The morning is spent traversing Khumbu Glacier and heading to Gorak Shep, where we typically pause for a well-deserved meal and the extraordinary views before heading out again for the journey’s reward, our arrival at the historic base camp, a temporary home through the decades to some of the most legendary figures in the annals of mountaineering. After pausing to drink in the astonishing spectacle, and perhaps view the latest expeditions mounting their challenge, we reluctantly turn around and make our way back to Gorak Shep for our night’s rest.
Day11Hike to Kala Patthar (5550m/18209ft), then descend to Dzongla 5-6hrs/11km.
- Altitude:4830m/15846ft.
- Meals:Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
- Accommodation:Tea house
Everest may not be within our reach, but Kala Patthar is on hand to give added meaning to the visit via unmatched views of the entire Khumbu basin and a sense of accomplishment in scaling the peak. After returning for breakfast and retrieving our trekking gear, we hit the trail once more for the hike to Dzongla.
Day12Dzongla to Dragnag 7hrs/9km via crossing Cho La 5420m/17782ft.
- Altitude:4700m/15420ft.
- Meals:Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
- Accommodation:Tea house
The occasionally icy stretch atop Cho La makes the ascent to the pass along a deep ravine a notable achievement, more difficult than Annapurna’s famed Thorong La, which is about the same height. The striking views of Ama Dablam, Baruntse, and Cholatse alone make the climb to the pass worthwhile. The descent can be a tricky one if icy, and if conditions merit it, we will be carrying crampons and ice axes to facilitate our passage over the pass and down to Dragnag.
Day13Dragnag to Goyko lakes 3hrs/5km.
- Altitude:4790m/15715ft.
- Meals:Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
- Accommodation:Tea house

Day14Hike to Gokyo Ri (5360m/17585ft, 2hrs/5km) to explore one of the best viewpoints of the Everest region, then back to Gokyo.
- Altitude:4790m/15715ft.

We rise early to make the climb up to Gokyo Ri, with even more astonishing panoramas of the surrounding Himalayan giants such as Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu.

- Max. Altitude:5360 meters/17585 feet
- Meals:Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner
- Accommodation:Tea house
We, Nepal Trekking Experts, would like to offer you an alternative and scenic route, and then back to the same way. This is our ultimate destination of the entire trek, crossing over the challenging pass of Renjo La (5340 m) and descending to Lunde. It will offer significant views of the panoramic Himalayan vistas surrounding it. Then steeply descends to Lumde for the night. (Note: If you do not like to cross Renjo La and prefer to go back the same way, that’s also no issue.
Day16Lunde to Namche Bazaar 5-6hrs/18km.
- Max. Altitude:3440m/11286ft.
- Meals:Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
- Accommodation:Tea house
Today, we will hike a part of the ancient salt trading route to Tibet. The trail will continuously descend and encounter some local settlements, then finally reach Namche Bazaar, from where we went to Gokyo.
Day17Namche to Lukla 7hrs/19km.
- Altitude:2860m/9383ft.
