Description

I haven’t done this one before, and would enjoy company to check out this classic scramble on the North Shore. Cumulative elevation gain ~1660 m, ~18 km distance, estimated time 9-10 h. 

Option 1: Start at Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve parking lot, do Crown Mountain via Hanes Valley route, come down via BCMC trail, end at Grouse Grind parking lot. This will require us to coordinate vehicles to shuttle between the two parking areas.

Option 2: Start at Grouse Grind parking lot, do Crown Mountain via BCMC, come down via BCMC, end at Grouse Grind parking lot.

My preference would be for option 1, but this will depend on vehicle shuttling and will be a group decision.

As this is a scramble, if it rains I will likely cancel.

I hike at a moderate pace, so won’t expect to be too fast or too slow.

The option is available to take the gondola down at the end to save the knees.

Required items: helmet, 10 essentials, extra layers

Required experience: Participants should be comfortable with class 3 scrambling and some exposure. Participants should have the required fitness level for the elevation gain and distance within the expected time.
