Coliseum Mountain Hike

September 19th 2026

Description

A classic north shore hike. We will meet at the Rice Lake parking lot and bike on the paved Seymour Demo Forest for about 9k where we start our hike up to Paton, Coliseum and Burwell peaks. The hike can be steep, includes a boulder field, and there is some easy scrambling to Burwell. There should be great views of the north shore mountain. It’s a big day, about 1500m elevation and 33km return. Please plan to be out for 10-11 hours.
Please note: The bike portion is not the focus of the trip and is simply a way to access the hiking route. This is not a cycling trip; bicycles are being used to access the main hike, and bikes will be left at the trailhead.
