Brunswick Sunset Hike

September 29th 2024

Description

This Sunday, I’m heading up Brunswick Mountain for the ultimate sunset hike. It’s going to be a wild clear one, so get ready!

📍 WHERE: Brunswick Mountain

🌅 WHEN: Sunday, with clear skies on the forecast!

🌄 WHY: We’re chasing the golden hour at 6:14 PM and sticking around for the sunset at 6:54 PM — the views can be 🔥.

📈 The Stats

  • Route: Strava
  • Distance: 13.42 km roundtrip
  • Elevation Gain: 1523m (we’re getting those quads to work!)
  • Final Stretch: The last 200m will be a scramble with some exposure, so make sure your footwear is up to the challenge.

♟️ Game Plan

  • 1:15 PM: Carpool squad, meet up at the Easy Park near Stanley Park .
  • 2:10 PM: Meet at the Sunset Trailhead.
  • 2:15 PM: We’ll do introductions, a quick gear check, and hit the trail with a brisk pace aiming for the summit.
  • 7:00 PM: After the sunset, we’ll take our time coming down to make sure everyone gets back safely, we want to avoid starrign in next season of Search & Rescue: North Shore

⚙️ What You NEED (Mandatory)

It’ll be chilly at the summit with cold weather and exposure, so make sure to bring the following:

  1. Emergency kit (for peace of mind)
  2. Warm layer (it’ll get cold at the top)
  3. Warm gloves (your fingers will thank you)
  4. Headlamp or flashlight (no exceptions—we’re hiking down in the dark)

Refer to https://www.northshorerescue.com/education/what-to-bring/ for the ten essentials to carry.
