A Last-Minute Hike up the BCMC Trail

October 11th 2025

Description

This is a last-minute offering to hike up and down the BCMC Trail on Saturday morning to get us out of the house on a day with questionable weather.

I prefer hiking both up and down to taking the gondola down, but I will side with the majority if most people would prefer to take the gondola down. We will do everything together as a group (i.e., both ascend and descend as one group). This is meant to be a social hike, with no real focus on going fast, but I think that it would be reasonable to get up and down within about three hours.

This will be a good chance to meet prospective partners and talk about plans for the winter. I would like to carpool from Vancouver, if possible, but those in North Van (or elsewhere) can meet us separately at the trailhead.

Finally, I will be checking my email for sign-ups until ~9:00 PM, and I will check it again at 6:00 AM on Saturday. I would have done better to post this a day or two ago.

Required Equipment: hiking boots, warm clothing, food and water, and the ten essentials

Recommended Equipment: hiking polls, microspikes
