Description
Stein Valley “Mini Traverse” described in G.
White’s guide book. Descend 1900m from Duffey
Lake to the Okanagan (Lytton) over 50 km and 4
days, from Sat July 20 to Tues July 23.
One of the last un-logged valley wilderness
areas in southern BC. Highlights include
traveling through many different
micro-climates from
alpine to forest to dry Okanagan, and
discovering ancient first nations
petroglyphs and other
sites of historical interest along the way.
The trail is only maintained from Cottonwood
junction to Lytton, so expect lots of deadfall
to scramble over for the first day. Getting
to the Fraser river requires advanced hiking
abilities, including side-hilling and steep
terrain (minimal exposure).
