Description
This hike is to train for fitness before the
ski season. I will be bringing a 60-lb pack and
mountaineering boots; I recommend that anyone who is
coming bring as much equipment as they bring on their
typical winter trips for maximal verisimilitude.
The trail is marked the whole way, but, in case you are
unfamiliar with it, please find descriptions of it here:
https://www.vancouvertrails.com/trails/grouse-grind/

columbia/grouse-grind-trail
According to avalanche.ca, we will be travelling almost
exclusively through simple terrain, and there is a low risk of
avalanches in the area for Sunday.
I am aiming to get up and down the trail in roughly three
hours–I will not move fast. Please bring your traction device
of choice (snowshoes, microspikes, etc.) for the top of the
trail.
Applicants for this event will be screened for this event.
Have you done the Grouse Grind? How long does it usually
take you with a full pack on?
Can you drive to this event? If so, how many passengers can
you take?
If you cannot drive, please let me know where you would like
to be picked up if applicable.
