Rock Skills Review- Mentorship Program Only

Description

Rock skills review. Intended for Claire’s group but may be able to accommodate additional participants.

Will include topics as requested by Claire’s mentee group. May include but not limited to: Lead belay outdoors, basic rock rescue (escape the belay, ascend the rope, stacked rappel, haul systems etc.), anchors (top rope, multipitch, trad), lead climbing (trad/sport)

Please bring what you would bring on a multipitch climb.

I have a double rack and 70 m rope. If someone can bring an additional rope and trad rack if we are a group of >3 that would be helpful. Further discussion in WhatsApp chat.

Happy to open more spaces if an additional mentor is interested in joining as co-organizer.

We will carpool from somewhere in Vancouver to be discussed in WhatsApp chat.

  • Falls and Belaying: Climbing presents the risk of falling from the climb causing the climber to collide with the cliff or ground, which can lead to injury or death. The risk of belay failure is also present which can contribute to the risk of a ground fall. Equipment failure, including equipment associated with climbing and belaying.
  • Rockfall and other terrain hazards.
  • Personal injury includes: sprains; strains; shock; stress; cuts; abrasions; fractured or broken bones; impalement; loss of limbs; soft tissue injuries; neck, head and brain injury; paralysis; psychological injury; other injury to the body.
  • Other: equipment failure; incomplete warnings or instructions; negligent first aid; negligence of other people, including trip coordinator and other guests.
