Rock Climbing at Squamish

September 30th 2023

Description

Hi everybody, this is my first time organizing a trip for ACC.
I feel it’s a bit late, as we are reaching the tail end of rock season.
A one-weeks notice might be tight for some people I realize — sometimes life gets in the way 😉

Everyone is welcome to join this cragging session, all skill levels and guests included!
We will start with easy trad climbing routes at Smoke Bluffs.

Our focus for this session will include:
– Trad leading
– Cleaning gears (by the follow-up climber)
– What second climbers need to do during multi-pitch climbs (especially for three people parties)

If there’s enough time at the end of the day, we can also have an info session on hauling systems, which are useful for rock and crevasse rescue.
If you have any pulleys or prussik knots, please bring to the session.

For first-timers or beginners, I will include a lesson on belaying as per the ACMG standard; please prepare your own gears/equipment.
If it becomes rainy on the day of, this event may be cancelled so please check this post for any updates come Friday morning.

We will meet at the St. Davids United Church parking lot at 7:30 AM on Saturday and organize for carpooling. More details will be emailed.
If there are any questions, please feel free to reach out via email, FB messenger (Eddie Heesu Yune) or text!
