Needle Tree/Needle Peak Backcountry

Posting a trip for beginner and intermediate skier/surfers (2 of 5) to enjoy spectacular views of Yak, Thar, Needle and ski possibly powder or wet snow. J. Baldwin rating for this trip is “Challenging Terrain” and “difficulty of 2”.

Depending of Avi condition, It’s going to be sunny with the temperature rising to 10C and 10 cm of fresh snow with possibility of rain.

Objectives based on team comfort level:

Needle peak 2100 m( includes class 2-3 scramble before the summit)
Or

Flatiron or needle creek bowls with slope angle of less than 30 degree up to 200 meters. Like Zoe!

First Aid:

If you have first Aid certification/training would be good to know.

Track setting and path finding:
We will go as a team, those interested to set track, find path and lead, email me directly. We will take turns. I share popular winter track and we can all load to our phones.

Transitions:
There will be couple of flat spots and based on the numbers of surfers VS skiers we will decide on transitions.

Participant Requirements:
-AST 1 or similar
-Fitness for 500 to 800 m elevation gain
-Done at least 1 backcountry trip with the club
-Survival tree skiing skills
-team attitude

Required Equipment:
-Avalanche safety kit
-first aid kit
-personal food and water for a 8 hours trip
-ski touring or split-boarding kit
-repair kit
-headlamp
-emergency SOS device(not required but recommended) and emergency blanket
-eye protection

-helmet

-skin protection( recommended)
