    That doesn't mean that you are confirmed to go on the trip yet. If you are accepted, you should receive an email from the coordinator to confirm your sign-up and coordinate the trip's details.

Description

Long range forecast has some promise of a return to better conditions for the coast in 12-14 days.  So I’m putting this on the calendar now, but if conditions don’t improve I will cancel this trip.

Potential zones to ski are Artist Point, Mt. Ann, Mazama Bowl, and Herman Saddle.  These are all slack country classics, making for an easy and fun day.

Because we are crossing the border, I seriously encourage everyone to have travel insurance. If you have NEXUS, please say so, as that’s a big bonus for easier border crossings. We will arrange carpools with the NEXUS people in mind.

Participant Expectations:

  • Intermediate to Expert level skier, comfortable on terrain 40 degrees plus an asset but not required.  (we may ski mellow terrain if avvy risk shoots up).
  • Good fitness to be moving on skis all day; I get cold easily and don’t like to do long stops, so we will be moving all day.
  • AST 1 Minimum with recent Companion Rescue Practice.

Required Gear:

  • Avalanche Kit
  • Ski Touring Kit or Splitboard.  Please ensure working order before you leave the house.
  • Headlamp
  • Personal First Aid Kit
  • Ski Repair kit
  • Eye Protection
  • appropriate clothing for the weather
  • FRS Radio like a Rocky Talky recommended
  • e-bivy.
