Mt Baker BackCountry

February 17th 2024

Description

The Mt. Baker Ski hill (in the USA) has amazing access to all ranges of back-country skiing. This is two back-to-back day trips for ski-touring or split boarding in the Mt. Baker backcountry.

The current plan is to do two day trips in the Mt.Baker slack country.

Some experience with backcountry skiing or touring is required. The terrain options in the area are varied and can be chosen depending on conditions, you should be very comfortable riding black diamond runs. Usually 3 to 4 touring laps can be fit in a day. AST level 1 is desired as this is back country terrain and avalanches can occur. The standard beacon, probe, and shovel are required. Some gear can be rented from the ACC. All winter ski or split-board touring gear is required. This trip involves driving to the USA so a valid passport is required. If you don’t hold a Canadian passport please check your visa requirements.

Once you sign up we can coordinate meeting times, it will likely be at the Heather Meadows Parking lot both mornings. Approximate driving time from Vancouver is 1.5 hours.
