Description
The Markhor-Needle Traverse is a challenging alpine scramble in Coquihalla Summit Recreation Area that links Markhor Peak (1,994 m) and Needle Peak (2,095 m) via an exposed granite ridgeline. It features steep and rugged terrain, sustained class 3 and 4 scrambling (climber’s scrambling).
The participants should be comfortable scrambling class 4 terrain. If we haven’t met, please briefly describe your scrambling experience.
Gear – helmet, light harness + rappel device and prusik. Shoes with sticky soles (approach shoes work best), headlight, food, water. The organizer will bring a light rope.
9 km, 1200 m elev. gain.

Rockfall: Rockfall can be caused by natural forces or by people travelling through the terrain (e.g. climbing/scrambling/hiking)
Communication and Rescue: Communication can be difficult, and in the event of an accident, rescue and treatment may not be available. Adverse weather may also delay the arrival of treatment and transport out of the field. If an Injury occurs in challenging terrain, movement to an evacuation point may be slow

Falls and Belaying: The risk of a belay failure is also present, which can contribute to a ground fall.
