Gin Peak Snowshoe

Gin Peak Snowshoe, elevation gain ~ 970 m, distance ~ 10 km, estimated 6-7 h

We haven’t done this trip before and are looking for anyone who might be interested to join. Pace will be moderate.

If the weather is not clear, or if avy conditions are of concern, we will likely change to a different lower elevation training hike such as Sea to Summit or other.

 

Required equipment:

This trip will travel through or near to terrain that may be exposed to avalanche danger. Trip participants are expected to bring avi gear: transceiver, shovel and probe.

Snowshoes are required

Participants should bring extra layers to survive in case of alpine emergency, and 10 essentials.

 

Required experience:

Participants should have AST-1.

Participants should have the required fitness to do the elevation gain within this time, preferably been hiking or touring recently this season.

 

Recommended equipment:

Microspikes, Ice Axe, Poles

I will bring my InReach.

 

Carpooling:

Winter/M&S tires needed for driving on Sea to Sky highway. Parking will be either at Alexander Falls Parking lot if it is clear, or  Whistler Olympic park https://www.whistlersportlegacies.com/whistler-olympic-park/backcountry-touring-access
where it is $19 per day per vehicle and requires pre-purchase –> we will coordinate beforehand
