Description
This is a refresher on avalanche rescue techniques, first priority is for trip organizers but also all members welcome. We’ll walk through the key steps and considerations in companion rescue and then practice using beacons, probes and shovels (hoping to bury some beacons in the sand). Additionally, we’ll talk through some suggestions for how you can design and walk a group through a refresher so you can do this yourself (this comes from years of doing full group simulations and pairs exercises at backcountry lodges, and from AST-2 etc courses, North Shore Rescue training, and learning from guide colleagues).
We’ll meet in front of the Kits Beach Public Bathrooms, rain or shine.
Feel free to get in touch with any questions or suggestions.
