Description

Split Pk (approx 1709m) is the highest point on the gentle 1k ridge heading south from Alpen Mtn (and possibly 1-2m higher than Alpen). There are a couple of steepish sections (that can be avoided); so, an ice axe and crampons (not micro-spikes) are required. We can drive to at least 1000m, and this is a moderate trip at a moderate pace that is intended to give new hikers, a bit of crampon and ice axe experience.
