Washington Pass Mini Camp

August 25th 2016

Description

The plan is to leave after work on Wednesday and set up a base
camp at the
Klipchuck Campground, which is halfway between
Washington Pass and Mazama. From here teams
will have easy access to alpine rock routes in
and around Washington Pass as well as sport
climbing near Mazama. Participants will be
screened and are expected to be self sufficient
and come with a partner. Please let the trip
organizer know who your climbing partner is.The
campground at Klipchuck fills up on weekends
so arriving on Wednesday or Thursday should
enable participants to get a site; you can have
up to 4 people and two tents in a site. Some
of the routes in the area for groups to climb
are The Beckey Route on Liberty Bell and The
Southwest Rib on South Early Winter Spire, plus
many others. Mazama climbing includes routes
like Prime Rib of Goat, 12 pitches of 5.9 sport
climbing as well as single-pitch cragging, a
nice little swimming hole and a great general
store with a coffee shop and microbrew beer.
More routes and information can be found in the
Washington Pass Climbing Guide by Ian
Nicholson.
