December 9, BCMC Social – “Powder Paradise” presentation by Chic Scott.
Chic Scott is Canada’s preeminent mountaineering historian best known for his year 2000 book Pushing the Limits, The Story of Canadian Mountaineering. In 2005 he published Powder Pioneers a history of skiing in the Canadian Rockies and Columbia Mountains. Chic has been climbing and ski mountaineering for over fifty years. In 1978 he completed the first alpine style ascent of Mount Logan’s East Ridge. He holds a Honorary membership in the Alpine Club of Canada, the Calgary Mountain Club and the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides. He is the founder of the Canadian Himalayan Foundation and one of the originators of the Banff Mountain Film Festival. In the year 2000 he was honored with the Summit of Excellence Award at the Banff Mountain Film Festival.
