The Simon Yates – Back from the Void 2012 Canadian
tour is presented exclusively by World Expeditions
in association with the Alpine Club of Canada this
November and visits Vancouver, Ottawa & Montreal
for one night only.

Simon was etched into mountaineering history
through the true-life events depicted in the book
and movie ‘Touching The Void’ – one of
mountaineering’s most harrowing stories.

After successfully summiting Siula Grande, Simon
was assisting an injured Joe Simpson down a
precipitous mountain in the midst of a violent
storm in the Cordillera Huayhuash of Peru.
Tethered by rope, Joe fell over a cliff on the
descent and was left hanging over a gaping
crevasse.
With Simon unable to move and no communication
from Joe, Simon chose to cut the rope, surely
sealing the fate of the injured Joe Simpson.
Miraculously Joe climbed out of the crevasse and
his cries were heard on the eve of Simon’s
departure.

Simon has written three books, the latest entitled
The Wild Within. He will sell and sign copies of
this book at each of his events alongside a
presentation about how the spirit of adventure has
shaped his life.
This is the first tour of Simon in Canada for a
many years. His tours outside of Canada this year
have been sell-outs so be sure to grab yourself a
ticket while you can – they will not last. Simon
will be flying from Nepal where he would have just
finished leading a Damobar Saribung Traverse with
World Expeditions.
