Description

We’re planning a mini road trip to Frenchman
Coulee and Smith Rock starting on Oct 11 and
we’d love to have company for all or part of it
if anyone wants to join us. We’re timing the
trip so that we’re climbing at Smith Rock
during the week instead of on the weekend when
it tends to be crowded. We’re retired, hence
the leisurely pace of travel. Unfortunately we
can’t offer to share transportation because
we’re going to be camping out of our VW Golf
and it’s going to be crammed full with the two
of us and our camping and climbing gear.
Here’s our current plan:

Thursday, Oct 11 – Drive to Vantage,
Washington. Stay at the Wanapum State Park
campground just south of Vantage for 3 nights
($35 per night for campsite than can
accommodate 2 tents 1 vehicle – $10 per night
for an extra vehicle).

Friday, Oct 12 & Saturday, Oct 13 – Climb at
Frenchman Coulee

Sunday, Oct 14 – Drive to Smith Rock State
Park. Stay at the state park campground for 6
nights ($8 per person per night).

Monday, Oct 15 to Friday, Oct 19 – Climb at
Smith Rock.

Saturday, Oct 20 – depending on our energy
levels and the weather we’ll either drive
straight back to Vancouver or head back to
Vantage for another day or two of climbing at
Frenchman Coulee and then drive home on either
Monday, Oct 22, or Tuesday, Oct 23.
