Description
Ideally this would be a longer trip in clearer weather, but I’m keen to get out into the snow this weekend and its a good time to visit before the season really gets going and the hut fills up.
Saturday: leave downtown Vancouver at 7am, 3.5 hr drive to bottom of Phelix Creek Road, snowshoe 10km/~950m elevation gain to the hut.
Sunday: further explore area, snowshoe out, dinner in Pemberton, get home by 10pm.
If Blackwater road conditions are too rough/unplowed, we’ll do a similar trip off the Duffey instead.
Please note, this hut does not have a wood stove or heaters and it will be cold. I’ll be bringing a tent as it is often warmer and definitely quieter. Cost for the hut is $10 per person, bring cash.
