January 25th 2014

Description

some text

As you may have heard, on January 19th Tim Jones, the greatly respected team leader of North Shore Rescue, passed away suddenly on Mt. Seymour.

For more than 30 years Tim was a tireless SAR advocate, participating in more than 1400 rescues and saving countless lives. Under his leadership North Shore Rescue has become one of the premier civilian SAR organizations in the world, an accomplishment all the more incredible given that it is built exclusively of volunteers. Tim’s tireless commitment to backcountry safety and his deep love of the wilderness is a shining inspiration, and his legacy is an elite team of rescuers safeguarding all those who enjoy the coast mountains.

For those wishing to pay their respects, a memorial and celebration of life will be held at 12pm at the Centennial Theatre (2300 Lonsdale Ave, North Vancouver BC) on Saturday, January 25th. Friends, family and team members will be given first priority for seating in the theatre but screens and viewing areas will be set up outside. A parade will take place prior to the ceremony. At 10:30am it will start at 15th St. and Forbes Ave. in North Vancouver, go along 15th to Lonsdale, turn North on Lonsdale and go up Lonsdale to 23rd where it will turn right and enter the Centennial Theatre parking lot. Donations to North Shore Rescue in honour of Tim’s service can be made here: https://fundrazr.com/campaigns/3gPPf/
