The Kokanee Glacier Cabin (a lodge really!) is
located on the shores of Kaslo lake in Kokanee
Glacier Provincial Park, an amazing ski touring /
splitboarding paradise.

Located north of Nelson,
in southeastern British Columbia’s Selkirk
Mountains, beautiful Kokanee Glacier Provincial Park
is a year-round recreational paradise.

Sitting mostly above 1,800 metres in elevation,
the park has three glaciers – Kokanee, Caribou, and
Woodbury –
which feed over 30 lakes and are the headwaters of
many creeks. As you can expect, this also makes the
cabin home to endless skiing terrain with something
for almost every level of skier.

The Lodge:

One of the most popular huts in the entire ACC
system the Kokanee Glacier Cabin is typically only
available via a lottery system! It’s also one of
the most well equipped ACC huts as well. It’s more
akin to a proper ski touring lodge really with flush
toilets, running water and electricity!

In addition we will have a chef organizing our
food and preparing our meals, all you have to do is
chip in and help with dishes once in a while.

The Guides:

Due to the complex nature of the terrain in the
area and the learning opportunities it affords we’re
going to be bringing in a couple of ACMG Certified
guides from BlackSheep Adventure Sports:

Monte Johnston:

A full-time Skiing, Mountaineering &
Climbing Guide, Monte loves to climb and skied
everywhere he can and has spent the last 15 years
traveling the world chasing this passion. In the
summer he can be found guiding anything from remote
mountain peaks to warm sun kissed rock across BC and
Alberta. In the winter Monte splits his time between
heli-skiing in Bella Coola, ski touring out of
various lodges in BC and traveling to international
ski destinations like Japan, India, Russia and any
other cool places he can find some powder.

Dan (the Danimal) Robb:

A ski guide by winter and alpine guide by
summer, Dan is truly at home when in the mountains
and is always coming up with a new obscure route to
investigate. To help pay the bills he spends part of
the winter as an avalanche forecaster on some
industrial projects along the coast, heli-skiing and
of course ski touring all across BC and Alberta.
