KEES AND CLAIRE HUT Volunteers for Spring 2018 Snow Removal

May 18th 2018

Description

Kees & Claire Hut Pre-Build Snow Removal Extravaganza /
Camp

Session 1 May 18 – 21 (4 days – Victoria Day weekend)

We have only a narrow (June-September) construction window
and a very tight work schedule to complete the shell construction
of the Kees and Claire Hut at Russet Lake by the time snow flies
this fall.

Sign up below and join us for a few days of camaraderie, work
and play at the Kees and Claire Hut pre-construction snow
removal extravaganza and camp.

There will be three sessions listed on the calendar. If the dates for
one camp don’t work for you, consider another that fits your
timetable. The purpose is to remove the winter’s snow
accumulation from the foundations constructed last summer as
well as around the immediate perimeter, so that construction of
the hut can begin promptly June 1st.

While you’re thinking about how great it will be to help ready the
site in a fantastic spring mountain setting, why not consider
asking a friend to come along too?

We don’t yet know for sure how much snow there will be at the
work site, so current plans are preliminary and may change as we
get additional information closer to event date .

Snow cover and work estimates for the work area will be updated
and posted here beginning around May 1st or as soon as reliable
information becomes available.

Whistler area weather forecasts can be accessed through this link.

Updates to proposed work plans can also be found by clicking on
this link to www.spearheadhuts.org

Participants will ski (or snowshoe) into the Kees and Claire Hut
site at Russet Lake from the Roundhouse on Whistler Mountain.

Our budget this year is extremely tight
However, Spearhead Huts organizers will arrange transport up
the mountain, by truck or complimentary gondola ticket.
AND, there will be support to fly in tents and additional needed
equipment into the work site.
