Intro to winter camping

This trip is intended for those with some touring experience who have not done winter camping before.

Only sign up if you can commit to this trip. shared gear must be coordinated in advance and drop outs will be disrupt the planning.

Participants are expected to have good technical riding skills for runs up to black diamonds in any conditions, a minimum of 5 days of touring, adequate fitness for 2 days of touring and 1 night of winter camping. Prior summer camping experience is an asset but not required. If you are uncertain if you have the expected experience please add your name and then contact me.

I may increase the group size to 8 people but no more.

ICal has limited space for describing your experience so please send an email to me instead.

During the weekend we will discuss site selection, site preparation, hygene, leave-no-trace ethics, cooking, how to stay warm and dry, planning for longer trips and other topics.

A planning worksheet for shared gear will be sent to the group in late December or early January.

This trip will be cancelled if is expected to be too warm, -15 or colder overnight, heavy snowfall, or at the discretion of the leader.
