Ice Climbing in Cal-Cheak

December 23rd 2016

Description

Ice climbing laps before the Christmas feast:

I climbed in Cal-Cheak last week and the ice was in great shape with all the ice flows well formed:

1) A easier flow on the right (WI3), 2) a really good line on a icy corner on the left (thinner for leads) and a 3) very fun line in the middle with few moves of mix that can be easily top-roped.

The plan is to do laps and climb as much as possible. We will set up a top rope and climb all the lines. We will focus on technique, fun and endurance.

This event is suited with people with some ice climbing experience. Ideally, you have your ice gear.
Good rock climbers are welcome to join us.

Bring ice gear (helmet, crampons and tools). I can provide ropes, etc.
Also warm clothes, food and camera for the funky mixed moves.

Climb till sunset (that is unfortunately at 4 pm).

Drive back to Vancouver (before 8 pm).
