Beginner touring practice

January 20th 2013

Description:

The goal of this event is to prepare skiers with no backcountry experience to go on beginner friendly backcountry ski-trips. The rough plan of the day is skin up to Brockton point, do a few things as time permits, and then ski back down to the parking lot.

Topics we may cover include:

  • How touring equipment works
  • Efficient skinning technique/skinning uphill
  • Efficient transitions
  • Self-reliance/safety issues in the backcountry

We won’t spend much time actually skiing downhill, but ability to ski blue runs within the resorts is required.
