Beginner-Friendly Ski Tour – Whistler Blackcomb

December 2nd 2017

Description

Since there was so much interest in Marcus’s Beginner-
Friendly ski tour, I’m adding this trip as another option. This
trip will be beginner friendly and will be somewhere in the
Whistler or Blackcomb backcountry – so you will need to
have either a season pass, Edge card or purchase a
backcountry lift ticket ($61.95). Where we go will depend on
which lifts are open at this time and conditions, but likely
musical bumps.

Please read the entire description before signing up

Preference will be given to those without much touring
experience who have completed AST1. However, anyone is
welcome to put their name on the list.

When you sign up, please answer the following
questions – send me an email at [email protected] with
your answers. If you don’t answer the questions, you will not
be moved from the waitlist – this information helps greatly in
planning 🙂

What is your touring experience (number of
days/seasons? examples of tours you have done)

Do you have your AST 1? Other avalanche training?

What is your skiing ability? Experience in powder/off-
piste? General fitness level?

Do you have a Whistler Blackcomb season pass/Edge
card or will you need to buy a backcountry pass?

Do you have a winter-ready winter vehicle and can you
drive?

All participants are expected to be able to ski blue runs,
off piste, under any conditions (the backcountry is not a
place to learn downhill skiing).

This trip will be canceled or re-scheduled at the leaders
discretion if the avi risk is too high or conditions are not
suitable for beginners.
