The Avalanche Skills
Training Level 2 course is designed for the
serious and experienced winter backcountry user.
This course expands on the theories and
principles established at the AST 1+ level
course or those who already have a solid
understanding of snow avalanche principles. The
program incorporates extensive practical field
sessions in real avalanche terrain implementing
a systematic approach for assessing and
evaluating the potential avalanche hazard.
This course will be taught by a CAA certified
professional
through Extremely Canadian. The course is for
ACC members only, at a
discounted price of
$497.17 + GST. We need a minimum of 6 people
to run the course, so sign up as soon as
possible!

The AST2 course consists of one classroom day
and 3 days of
intensive outdoor field sessions focusing on
terrain analysis, snowpack assessment, and
rescue skills. The full gear list can be found

Prerequisites: AST1 +
Intermediate backcountry skiing or snowboarding
ability (i.e.,
you can confidently ski/ride the equivalent of
BLUE runs in the backcountry in a variety of
snow conditions).
