AST 2 – Skiers and Riders

March 24th 2017

Description

AST2 is designed for
backcountry skiers and splitboarders who
have already taken the AST1 course, and are
looking to broaden their avalanche skills. This
in-depth
avalanche course meets and surpasses the CAA
requirements, and includes additional
curriculum components.

This course will be taught by a CAA certified
professional
through Mountain Skills Academy & Adventures
(MSA). The course is for ACC members only, at a
discounted price of
$497.25 + GST, but you have to sign up before
March 18. After that, only the standard ACC
(10%) discount applies.

You may also have to purchase a Whistler
backcountry lift pass for one or more of the
days ($59 + GST) if
you
don’t have a season’s pass.

Please note, this course requires a minimum of
6 participants
to run. In the event that fewer than 6
participants sign up,
MSAA will attempt to fill remaining spots with
members of the
general public. If minimum numbers cannot be
met prior to the
course date, the course will be rescheduled or
a refund
provided to participants.

The AST2 course consists of one classroom day
and 3 days of
intensive outdoor field sessions focusing on
terrain analysis, snowpack assessment, and
rescue skills. The full
curriculum, gear list, and detailed itinerary
can be found online: https://www.mountainskillsacademy.co
