Want some 1 on 1 downhill ski mentorship?

I’m looking for a handful of experienced
backcountry travellers who want to improve their
downhill skiing performance.
You’ll be paired with a member of the UBC Ski and
Board club, many of whom are
either level high level ski instructors or just
impressively strong downhill skiers (that
happen to compete in national level races).
You’ll provide an introduction to the backcountry,
and in exchange for your knowledge of touring,
they’ll provide ample ski drills, tactics and
encouragement while you practice your turns.
Applicants must:
- Have a minimum of 2-3 years of backcountry
experience and AST-1 (preference
for a course(s) in glacier travel and/or alpine
skills) - Possess strong touring skills (terrain
management skills, knowledge of
companion rescue, familiarity with local touring
areas) - Have a need to improve their downhill skiing
performance (beginner-
intermediate downhill skiing ability) - Be willing to attend the kickoff meeting on
November 19 from 6-9 pm - Be willing to spend a minimum of 4 days with
their mentoring partner (2 days
as a skiing mentee, 2 days as a touring mentor) - Have a Whistler pass, Edge Card or be willing
to purchase 2 full -day lift
