Hello ACC-Vancouver Members!!

February 2024 sees the return of the popular ACC (IBS) Intro to Backcountry Ski & Splitboarding course.

This course will be held over one full weekend and includes classroom sessions, reviews, and two days of field work touring in the Hope and Coquihalla Pass area.

Usually this course is held in mid January. However, with the last couple of winters being abnormally late to start, we’ve moved the course to February to have the best chance of a decent snowpack and hopefully nice weather 🙂

The IBS course was designed with BEGINNER ski tourers and split boarders in mind. Therefore, it is very important to understand we are looking for people with very little experience.

The course will take place in Hope, BC and the course times will be as follows:

Friday, February 2nd – 6:30pm meetup in Hope

Saturday, February 3rd – All day

Sunday, February 4th – All day

COST: $120

***WHAT’S INCLUDED***

– Classroom sessions and reviews along with two full days of leading and instruction in Coquihalla Pass

***WHAT’S NOT INCLUDED***

-Accomodation. Students will be responsible for arranging their own stay in Hope, BC for two nights (Friday 2nd and Saturday 3rd). We are more than happy to help facilitate sharing options in motels, etc

-Meals/Food/Drinks. Students will be responsible for their own food while in Hope during the course. There are many eateries and grocery stores in the area.

-Carpooling. Students will be responsible for getting to and from Hope. We are more than happy to help facilitate carpooling groups/options.

-Equipment/AVI gear. Students will be responsible for having all the required and necessary equipment for the course. The ACC-Vancouver does not rent touring gear.

How to sign up:

  1. Register for the course and fill out this questionnaire to be added to the Waitlist.
  2. The Event Organizers will review the responses over the next couple of weeks and move people over to the Confirmed List if they fit the course criteria
  3. Once on the Confirmed List, we will send out an email with payment instructions. Please DO NOT PAY until you are contacted.

Ahead of the course, we will also be send out an equipment list, and an information packet with some reading material along with further details
