November 13th 2010

Description

Dear ACC Members,

I hope this finds Everyone keeping well and looking forward to the Winter season
ahead.

I would like to extend an invitation to all of you to share in an evening of
mountain culture at the 10th Brian Ebert Memorial Fund multimedia
presentation & silent-auction
fund-raiser. The Association of Canadian
Mountain Guides & The West-Coast Committee of the ACMG are honored to host
Barry Blanchard
at the ‘Millennium Place’ Theatre, in Whistler, British
Columbia
on Saturday, November 13th, 2010.

Barry will be presenting his slideshow ‘My Mountain Life’. Barry Blanchard is
one of Canada’s foremost alpinists. He has enjoyed some success in the
mountains: the first ascent of The Andromeda Strain; the North Ridge of
Rakaposhi; the first ascent of the North Pillar of North Twin; the West Ridge of
Mt. Everest; surviving the Rupal Face of Nanga Parbat; a solo ascent on the
North Face of Kusum Kanguru; an attempt on K2; first-ascents in the St. Elias
Mountains; M16, a first-ascent during the winter on the East Face of Howse Peak;
the third ascent of the Infinite Spur on Mt. Foraker; the first-ascent of
Infinite Patience on the Emperor Face of Mt. Robson. Barry lives in Canmore,
Alberta, with his wife Catherine and their two daughters, and works as an
internationally-certified Mountain Guide. For more information about Barry,
please visit his website:

Join Barry, on November 13th in Whistler, as he tells why he’s
dedicated his entire adult life to finding the perfect new route up the perfect
mountain. He’ll show slides from climbing trips to the Canadian Rockies, Mt.
Blanc, Nuptse, Everest, K2 and others to illustrate the ways mountains engage us
and how climbing soothes the soul.

The evening will begin with a silent-auction. Beer and wine will be available,
and you’ll have the chance to meet Barry before the presentation begins.
Silent-auction items will include mountain-gear, heli-skiing trips, a chartered
helicopter ‘ski-drop’, guided programs and courses, local artwork and more.
