Description
Please join us on April 22nd for our monthly social! This month, we’re featuring Trevor Marc Hughes and his latest book release.
The Final Spire: ‘Mystery Mountain’ Mania in the 1930s.
What drew four young mountaineers in 1934 to hop into a battered Plymouth and drive from Winnipeg to BC’s Tatlayoko Lake? It was the allure of Mystery Mountain, recently named Mount Waddington, tallest mountain within British Columbia. Ever since Don and Phyllis Munday spoted a great mass of mountains on the coast during a Mount Arrowsmith excursion, the race was on to climb The Final Spire.
Trevor Marc Hughes brings extensive knowledge of mountaineering history to his work. His first book documented the historic 1925 expedition to Mount Logan, while his newest publication explores the fascinating story of Mystery Mountain (Mount Waddington) and the pioneering climbers who sought to conquer its peak in the 1930s.
