We are pleased to offer ACC Vancouver members a
Ski Touring and Glacier Travel
Skills Course for 2021 in partnership
with Black Sheep
Adventure Sports.
This course is available to members as an
alternative to our volunteer-led Ski Touring and Glacier Travel
Skills Course (STGT) of previous years.
The course curriculum will expand upon
the content presented in Black Sheep Adventure
Sport’s Winter Crevasse Rescue & Glacier
Travel course, and be instructed over 4 field
days (2 back-to-back
weekends).
Come join Monte
Johnston along with a
enthusiastic team of ACMG certified instructors
to learn the skills you’ll need to ski or
snowboard in glaciated terrain.
Fine Print:
- We
highly recommend Travel & Medical
insurance. - Be sure to look over our
Booking Policies. - Participants will be
required to sign a Waiver.
Summary:
- 1 day in Squamish working on glacier rope
systems – Smoke Bluffs. - 1 day ski touring & companion rescue refresher
– Hanging Lake or similar - 1 day actual glacier travel but also
backcountry touring or mountaineering – Cayoosh or
similar - 1 day ski mountaineering specific likely in
the Duffy as well - A start of course introductory meeting via
Zoom will also include a glacier travel
presentation - What we do on different days will vary
depending on the weather of course
Note: Because of COVID-19 there will be
some
additional requirements including
wearing face masks when you cannot physically
distance, etc…
