Description
Our basic mountaineering course is designed for new club
members (novice
climbers/mountaineers), to learn the skills necessary for safe
travel in mountainous terrain.
Mountaineering is a skill that takes years to become really
experienced at, so our goal for this courses is to simply make
you confident enough with the basic skills. Following that, you
can go out and practice yourself, as well as continue to learn
from others on the various trips and camps the club puts on.
In addition to signing up via the calendar, you
must also fill
out a Course Application Form to participate in
this course. (the link will open in a new tab or window).
Signup order (via the calendar) has no significance for this
course as we use your application submission date instead. Our
club’s Skills
and Training Coordinator will review and tentatively
approve applications during the first two weeks of April,
following which you will be notified.
You should download and read the course handout
ahead of time.
