Auld Lang Syne – Robbie Burns Hut Celebration

January 24th 2019

Description

Lest old acquaintance be forgot
come join us for Whiskey in Squamish to celebrate
days gone by for Robbie Burn’s birthday.

This trip is beginner friendly. We’ll head to Red
Heather on Thursday Evening, continue on to Elfin
Shelter, and return to Squamish early Friday
Morning.

You will need a pair of skis / a board / snowshoes
/ microspikes / branches & duct tape, or anything
else that aids your movement on snow.

Whiskey & sleeping gear is required if staying
overnight, but you could just as easy head out
Thursday night.

Note: This is not a course. While Brittany does
have a certificate and is able to serve alcohol
professionally, joining the trip means you
understand the risk of drinking alcohol yourself.
It’s helpful if you understand the finer details of
Scotch, but we can help guide you in a non-
professional capacity. Guidance will not follow a
workshop format, and you are expected to be able to
drink whiskey without help. Any advice given solely
reflects our own mantra and not that of the club.
Many online courses about the risk of drinking
alchol are available and we absolutely suggest you
seek out somebody that drinks professionally so
that you can learn the agreed upon way to drink
whiskey.
We don’t purport to keeping up with industry
changes or political correctness memorandums and
may accidently pack rice wine or say something very
taboo. If you are unsure that your experience is
enough, you may send us a resume of your drinking
experience and we can make some suggestions on how
appropriate this trip might be. Raz is an active
member of the Avalanche Association and believes
this to be a beginner friendly trip regardless of
the avalanche risk. He also makes no promises that
we will be safe. We don’t believe anyone can
guarantee safety, not even by staying home. In-
fact, the trip would be very boring if it were
actually safe. Furthermore, most accidents happen
close to home, so you are less likely to get hurt
buy
coming with us.
