Ingrid Backstrom’s ski career has spanned the globe and all facets of big mountain freeskiing. A consistent podium finisher in freeskiing contests, she has appeared in 13 ski films. Since she started skiing in the Cascade Range of her native Washington, her thirst for the perfect run has led to descents from America’s highest peak, 20,000-foot Denali, to extreme downhills in remote ranges in China, and Baffin Island in the Canadian Arctic. Her breathtaking runs in the acclaimed film Steep led to appearances on The Today Show, and Conan. America’s pre-eminent ski publication, Powder Magazine, has honored Ingrid with five Female Performance of the Year awards.
